My opinion on Macintosh/MacOS

Did you know, at the bottom of this page, you will see a "I HATE MACINTOSH" web badge? Yes, I am very much a hypocrite, since I am a MacOS user. But I have some strong opinions about MacOS. For example, why in the HELL did Apple cancel iTunes for it? For Windows users, you can still use iTunes, but for Mac users like me, I have to download some abandoned project like Retroactive or clone for iTunes to work.

iTunes running on my computer via Retroactive.

Also, what's with the lack of customization? You can't use custom cursors natively, can't change the dock, overhaul looks, or even change the icons or some apps without disabling the Security Integrity System, which can pose a MASSIVE risk to your computer. But on some operating systems such as Ubuntu or Windows (specifically 10 or older), the OS is highly customizable. Sure, older MacOS was customizable and fun in a way, but modern MacOS's customization is locked down and under some hard-coded bullshit and you need to perform some terminal hacker stuff to fully customize it. I'm not saying you shouldn't use MacOS, but if your goal is customization and legacy apps, it's a no-go.

The Most Obscure File on the Internet

For a long time, I've always wondered: What is the most obscure and rare file on the Internet? I could say that an obscurity could be the .d88 files, used for old Japanese computers such as the NEC PC-8801. We could also consider restricted files from al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden would also be way more rare to find.

A NEC PC-8801. I did not take this picture.

We could also say that "Tix and Robux Generator".exe, a malware in disguise uploaded to many file sites, could be one. Basically, when you opened it it didn't steal data, but it played weird music and showed a tounge moving around your screen with text saying "FUCK YOU :D". It vanished off the Internet.

But maybe none of these could be the rarest file on the Internet. It could be forgotten shareware, abandoned Flash movies or games, anything, really. We might never know. But then again, there could be some crazy lost media shit that gets uncovered by some unemployed men that COULD be the rarest file on the Internet. But then again, there could be something rarer. It never ends.

Why are swear words "bad"?

Have you ever wondered why words like fuck, shit, bitch, damn, ass/asshole, etc. are all considered derogatory words? I bet you haven't, but from what I know, here's why.

Also, many people in America come from Christian backgrounds, particularly in the 1800s, so old people might ponder words like "Hell" and "Damn" to be swear words. We could also consider sex, as the word 'fuck' became a use for sex. But then again, I don't have lots of information on the topic, so this might be wrong.

The middle finger, an obscene gesture.

What the hell is a Color TV-Game?

Over the years, I have occasionally seen Nintendo's Color TV-Game from 1977. Apparently, it's some stereotypical late '70s Pong clone. I also have heard that it came in 5 different variations. Color TV-Game 6, a Pong clone console, Color TV-Game 15, basically the same but 15 Pong variants, Color TV-Game Racing 112, a top-down racing game, Block Kuzushi, a Breakout clone, and the Computer TV-Game that I know nothing about, but apparently it's extremely rare.

A Color TV-Game 15.

Apparently, TV-Game 6 goes for about $120-$180 used, and I'm really broke rn, so I don't see myself buying one. An interesting fact is this was Nintendo's first game console, followed by the NES. A strange and fascinating oddity in my eyes.

Who created the "Why did the chicken cross the road" joke?

Obviously the most iconic "joke" for around 180 years, it is the first anti-joke. It originally appeared in the 1847 New York magazine "The Knickerbocker" as an anti-humor line that sounds like a riddle, but it changes to an obvious punchline. It first appeared as "Why does a chicken cross the street?.. Because it wants to get on the other side!". Very funny, aint it?

Chickens crossing the road.

(This is a very short entry because I am extremely tired.)

SORRY FOR BEING LATE!!

Why is Twitter so goddamn toxic?

Have you ever wondered why almost all Internet drama comes from Twitter? Have you ever wondered why Twitter is a toxic barrel filled with shit? Well I can tell you some things about that in this entry. Hostility on Twitter isn't abnormal. In fact, toxicity on the platform is only becoming more standardized due to a ton of factors, such as:

But maybe it's none of these. Maybe it's something deep within. Maybe the toxicity could come from stupid crybabies that argue with people that have different opinions. Maybe it's a fat loser that lives in his parent's basement trying to get people mad. Oh well, I'll probably never know.

Why is the Hope Diamond "cursed"?

Have you ever heard of the Hope Diamond? Probably not. It is famous for it's large size and striking blue color since the 1600s. The curse is folklore, as legend claims that the diamond was stolen by a French merchant named Jean-Baptiste Tavernier, which prompted vengeful priests to curse anyone who possesed it. Many scholars note that Tavernier's acquisition is unrecorded and he likely legally bought it, and the stolen story was probably made up. Although, French monarchs King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette owned the Hope Diamond's predecessor, the French Blue, and were killed during the French Revolution. Also, another misfortune involving the diamond wass when a British banker named Henry Phillip Hope gave the diamond his family name, and later descendants faced severe bankruptcy and financial ruin.

NEXT ENTRY COMING TOMORROW

Note: Due to burnout and school, the blog will go from daily to weekly entries. Next entry coming next Saturday

Ironic since I use Macintosh!! (I don't know how to use the word ironic, am i right?) But yeah, I really don't like Macintosh. It's barely customizable unlike Windows. Windows users, I envy you.
